CENTER FOR SOLID STATE PHYSICS & NEW MATERIALS

The Center for Solid State Physics and New Materials (CSSPNM) is a part of the Institute of Physics at the University of Belgrade. Our research interest is mainly concerned with the study of optical, transport and magnetic properties of a wide group of materials (from semiconductors and high-temperature superconductors to insulators and magnetic materials).

The Center for Solid State Physics and New Materials brings together four laboratories of the Institute of Physics in Belgrade.

COLLABORATIONS

The center has a total of 43 active researchers and two retired researchers. In the previous four years, a large number of associates of the Center defended their doctoral dissertations, and currently there are five doctoral students , whose dissertations are supervised by associates of the Center.
Within the research activities, a number of topics are planned, primarily in the field of condensed matter physics, as well as a couple of topics in the field of biophysics, which will be organized in 15 topics.

The Institute of Physics Belgrade, a National Institute of the Republic of Serbia, is a first-class research institution dedicated to the study of physics and related disciplines. The research conducted here into the fundamental mechanisms of nature is of immense value to the scientific, educational, cultural, and the overall socio-economic development of Serbia.

Owing to its unique spirit, state-of-the-art research and fruitful innovations, the Institute of Physics is recognized today in Serbia as a leading national research institution, in the region as a center of excellence, and in Europe and globally as a trustworthy partner and a relevant research center.
